Reads the bundle, not the filename
Metadata comes from moduleinfo.json, Info.plist, AU type codes and CLAP feature tags — parsed in an isolated helper process so a malformed bundle can't take the app down with it.

Archive without uninstalling
Move plugins to a staging folder so your DAW stops loading them. Nothing is deleted, every batch is restorable, and Focus archives everything outside a selected collection in one action.

Scans that stay warm
Bundles are cached by modification time, so only what actually changed gets re-parsed. An FSEvents watcher notices new installs and rescans on its own.

Your corrections stick
Tags, notes and category overrides persist across scans. Duplicate entries — the same plugin in both VST3 and AU — collapse into one.

Two Macs, one answer
Point a studio machine and a laptop at a shared folder and KitSwitch merges their installation records, so you can see at a glance what's missing where.

Local by default
The catalogue is a SQLite file in your Application Support folder. No account is required to scan, tag or archive.
